Background and Overview
In the previous lesson, we discussed that category names vary between directories and that a directory will typically yield fewer results, but with a higher degree of relevancy, than a search engine for the same search.
Here is your opportunity to perform a search by using categories for the same item in two different directories,
About.com and the Open Directory Project.
Using only the categories in each directory, find some recipes for French onion soup.
Note the path you take in each directory, including the names of the categories and the number of levels (clicks) it takes you to get to the actual recipes. A
lso take note of the ease or difficulty of determining the next correct category at each level and how easy it is to locate each level of category.
Because this exercise is not scored, you may, if you choose, substitute a search by category on a topic that is related to your day-to-day work.
Here are links to the directories you will use:

Remember, only use the categories, not the search query input field that is part of the Directory.
Good luck and good searching! When you are finished, click the
